Not The End

Can you believe December is here already? Summer is gone, and winter is upon us. The beautiful flowers and the greenery are gone. The beauty of all the planting and cultivating of spring and Summer have faded away. But this is not the end. In the spring the sun will warm the ground, and the plants which were dormant will be revived and restored, and life’s journey will start again. Our lives are just as the grass and flowers in the winter. Sometimes we feel withered and lifeless. Psalm 102:11 says, “My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass.” We are only here for a season. God plants us in His time. He shines his light and breathes new life in us. We blossom and start the journey all over again. He is the One who cultivates us with His word, shines the light of His Son on us, and blows the wind of the Holy Spirit upon us that we may live again. Isaiah 40:8 says, “The grass withereth, and the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.” It’s His word that lets us feel that summer breeze breathing new life in us, and giving us hope of a life that will last forever. So, we can enjoy the winter, looking forward to the coming of spring.
